From person to character

A small book about people and their dreams. A particular element of a character’s dream is displayed in a rather humorous way in each portrait.

Leap second book object

Each of these books represents one timezone and encompasses one hour. The different paper types indicate different time units. The book object clarifies the leap second, an extra second added to the last minute of the 31th of January or the 30th of June to avoid a difference in time between the solar time and the atomic time.

Collected

Collected is a magazine about the culture of collecting for which I designed the first issue. I wanted each article to have a different design that would represent its content in its own way. This resulted in a very diverge range of designs.

Big data

I also designed an insert with several articles about data. Because of the complexity of the subject, I attempted to add a certain lightness to it by creating a simple but colourful design that makes it pleasant for my audience to read.

Vinyl design

I chose to use a bow tie, a typical Stromae attribute, as starting point for my design. The result is rather simplistic, what I think it matches great with his electronic music. The covers are all realised by silk-screen printing on different pastel-coloured papers.

Tactility

A personal, tactile, photographic archive brought together in a rather rational and mathematical way as a kind of colour fan.

Zeewaar

For Zeewaar, I created an organic and elegant logo, which captures the freshness of the company’s sea lettuce. Zeewaar is lead by two women; that is why I chose to use fuchsia as main colour, strong but feminine.

Presentation design & leave-behind

I also designed a presentation for students in nutrition and dietetics about the nutritional value of seaweed. In addition, I created a leave-behind to help the students remember the presentation. As the target audience consists of students, I chose to go with a playful and colourful design.

Information design matters

A publication for the IIID to help people comprehend information design. To make sure everything would be clear, I also added an extra glossary for complicated terms and definitions. For each article I chose to use one particular colour. These colours return in my glossary, as a clear link between the two. This should make it eassier for the readers to find something.

Umami

Short animation I made together with Sofie Wijnants about the fifth, rather unknown taste umami. We chose a clear and pure visual style because we want it to make people’s mouth water. As contrast we added a very fierce audio to represent the insensity of this fifth taste.
