Branding & product design

The brief

The project's scope was intentionally broad, offering us the creative freedom to either innovate and develop an entirely new product from the ground up or enhance an existing one to meet our objectives.

The idea

Initially, my idea centered around creating a recipe app that allowed users to easily save and document their own recipes. However, during my research, which began with a basic Typeform survey, it became evident that there might not be a substantial demand for the product I had in mind. Respondents indicated a preference for an app that offered a wide range of recipes for inspiration. They also expressed interest in features that allowed them to discover recipes from friends and share their own culinary creations seamlessly.

Competitive analysis

During my competitive analysis, I observed several existing recipe apps. However, none of them integrated a social component. While testing these apps, I came across one that particularly captured my interest: Kitchen Stories. Given that this app already encompassed many of the aspects I had in mind, I decided to use it as a foundation and develop a new feature, with the goal of making it even more valuable and versatile.

User flow

Distinguishing between a user's original recipes and those inspired by others was a key priority. When posting a new recipe, the user can effortlessly choose between these two options, each with its own distinct workflow designed to enhance the user experience.

Visual design

Upon my initial interaction with the app, I was immediately captivated by its stunning design and captivating photography. The exceptional branding, skillfully crafted by Ivette Felix Uy, provided a strong foundation for the project. Leveraging this existing branding allowed me to create high-fidelity screens that seamlessly integrated with the app's overall aesthetic and identity.
