The brief
IPTS, the Interplanetary Travel Syndicate, links travelers across galaxies via an interstellar transportation network. I developed three websites from scratch for the leadership's three distinct platforms as part of a design course, excluding the pre-existing logo. This project was created during a Design Course.
Research
Research played a crucial role in this fictional project, and due to its fictional nature and time constraints, I adopted an unconventional approach. Seeking an initial spark, I engaged my AI companion, chatGPT, which offered valuable insights into potential features and services. Subsequently, I delved into the realm of competitors providing analogous intercontinental services to gather further inspiration. Armed with this knowledge, I translated concepts into tangible form, outlining the product's page structure through initial sketches.
Wireframing
With the foundation of page structures in place, I proceeded to craft low-fidelity wireframes. This iterative process provided invaluable insights into the essential components required for an effective Design System. Ensuring coherence across various pages, I concurrently developed the trio of pages side by side, guaranteeing a consistent and cohesive user experience.
Branding
My approach aimed to strike a balance between minimalism, modern aesthetics and a sense of playfulness. I developed unique colour palettes for each page, while ensuring a consistent underlying tone that unifies the overall product. To add a playful twist, I opted for an unconventional typeface for headers and integrated graphical illustrations into the background, enhancing the visual appeal with creative elements.
Design system
After wrapping up the visual design for the first page, I began the process of extracting elements to shape the patterns and components for my Design System. Integrating a few key components paved the way for the creation of the other two pages.
I am excited to introduce Kosmos, my very first Design System. While it remains in its early stages, Kosmos embodies a minimalistic approach, encompassing the fundamental elements that a nascent design system requires.
